The Alaska Native Tribal Epidemiology Center provides data and insights needed to protect and improve community well-being. Our work informs decisions, drives programs, and helps evaluate the outcomes that matter most to our communities.
Our role is to collect, analyze, and disseminate data that illuminates health trends, uncovers disparities, and supports effective, evidence-based interventions. We believe that data are more than just numbers—they’re a tool for empowerment. Data can shape public health strategies that are positive, proactive, culturally relevant, and community-driven.
While epidemiologic data often highlight gaps and inequities in health outcomes, we recognize that these numbers don’t tell the whole story. Every Alaska Native community holds deep-rooted strengths, resilience, and resources that are not always captured in traditional health metrics. Culture and connectedness are not reflected in data sets, but we know that these strengths keep our communities healthy.
Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that the data we share not only reveals areas for improvement but also inspires collaboration, investment, and innovation in public health—building a healthier, more equitable future for all. We are committed to interpreting data with context, care, and cultural humility.
